Paroxetine a popular antidepressant

Quite a large number of people, from the entire population, suffer from depression, because of some or the other reason. Depression is characterized by feelings of sadness, unhappiness, misery, frustration and loss, which can interfere with a person's day to day living for a longer period of time. It is generally believed that one can suffer from depression as a result of chemical imbalances in your brain. This condition can either be hereditary or it can even occur as a result of certain events or situations that arise in your day to day living. The major reason because of which depression occurs is imbalance in the level of neurotransmitters, which play an essential role in the communication between the different parts of your brain. This chemical imbalance can also be triggered because of certain external factors or can be hereditary.

A person who is passing through a phase of depression, needs help for coming out of his problem. You can either go for counseling sessions, or take antidepressants that are available. One of the most popular depression treatment is Paroxetine, which belongs to the SSRI (Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors). This pill works by maintaining the level of serotonin in your brain, which helps in improving certain mood problems such as depression. Before you start taking this pill, you should inform your doctor if you are allergic to any other drugs, or are suffering from health conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, seizures and bipolar disorder or manic depression. If you are taking Paroxetine pills, there are chances that you have suicidal thoughts in the initial stage, so it is advisable to inform your doctor pertaining the same.

You should take this antidepressant as per the doctor's prescription and should avoid taking it for more number of times than recommended. You are required to swallow the pill as a whole without breaking it, as it needs to be released in your body gradually. If you are taking the liquid form of Paroxetine, you should shake the liquid properly and then drink it. It can take at least a time period of 4 weeks before you can experience any changes in your depression symptoms. At times, you can experience certain withdrawal symptoms such as agitation, dizziness, numbness, tingling, ringing in your ears, confusion and behavior changes on stopping the medication. If you have missed out on one of your scheduled dosage, you should take the dose as soon as you remember it. But if it almost time for the next dosage, it advisable to skip the missed dosage, rather than taking an extra one.
