Valtrex - Alleviate the symptoms of a herpes outbreak

Herpes is a disease caused by herpes simplex virus (HPV-2). Many people infected with this virus are asymptomatic in nature, but can still pass on the infection to others. Symptoms, if occurred, can range from a mild soreness to painful blisters or cold sores around the infected area. These symptoms can fade away on their own and then reappear at some undetermined point of time. In some people, the symptoms can occur soon after the infection, but in others, symptoms cannot be seen for several months or even years. The herpes virus can remain in dormancy in your system for years before the symptoms for the herpes reappear.

Valtrex - Anti-viral treatment

Unfortunately, as such there is no cure for herpes, but anti-viral medications seem to be effective in controlling the symptoms of outbreak and relieving the pain and discomfort associated with it. Valtrex is a prescription anti-viral medication for the treatment and prevention of herpes outbreaks. Valaciclovir is an active ingredient that blocks the DNA polymerase, which is a viral enzyme. Herpes virus requires DNA polymerase to replicate it from one cell to another, so by blocking DNA polymerase, spreading of the infection can be stopped. Valtrex can reduce the pain associated with the herpes outbreak. Valtrex for cold sores and shingles is just as effective as treating herpes. Valtrex can reduce the length of time by up to three days for which herpes outbreak occurs. Mild-to-moderate Valtrex side effects ranging from headaches, diarrhea, and dizziness can be felt in some people, for which you should consult your doctor for any dose adjustments.
