What is tramadol?
This medication is used to treat severe pain. At times, it is also prescribed for the treatment of moderate pain. Tramadol has an extended release formula that helps in the treatment of chronic pain. It is extremely helpful when treatment is needed all round the clock. This medication may be used for other purposes as well.

Although this pain relief drug is not addictive in nature, you should avoid taking it with alcohol and drugs. People who use this drug experience seizures and metabolic disorders. If you have a history of suffering from metabolic problems or a head injury, you should consult a doctor before using Tramadol.
Do not take it in conjunction with antidepressants and medications for muscle relaxation or nausea. If you suspect an overdose of this medication, call the doctor immediately. An overdose of Tramadol can be very dangerous. Some symptoms of overdose include shallow breathing, weakness, cold skin, fainting, drowsiness and coma.

Do not crush the Tramadol tablet and ensure that you take it orally only. Do not try to take it as an injectable medication by crushing the tablet and making a paste out of it. Before taking this drug
Do not use this pain relief medication if you are allergic to any of its ingredients. Also, avoid using it if you have a history of drug/alcohol addiction. This medication is known to cause suicidal tendencies in those who take it. If you have ever attempted suicide, do not take this drug. Do not use Tramadol if you have used any of these drugs recently:
- Alcohol
- Narcotic pain medicine
- Sedatives
- Medications for the treatment of depression or anxiety;
- Medications for mental illness
- Street drugs
The risk of seizures increases with the following health conditions:
- Drug or alcohol addiction
- Epilepsy or other seizure disorder
- Head injury
- Metabolic disorder
- Use of antidepressants
This medication is now known to harm the unborn baby, but it is advisable that you do not take it if you are pregnant, planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding.
